Louisiana Sugar Cane Harvest

We were in Louisiana in November and drove out

into sugar cane country.  They were harvesting the sugar

and they do that by burning the leaves, leaving the cane, thus

making it easier to cut down. It was quite a beautiful sight

and it smelled wonderful!

I love early walks on Folly Beach and
especially in the winter when you practically have the
beach to yourself.  One day I will TRY to capture on canvas
one of the beautiful winter sunrises over the Atlantic.
I am always reminded of the line  "poems are made
by fools like me, but only God can make a tree."

Back in the 70's, when we lived in Eastern
North Carolina, the landscape was dotted
with tobacco drying barns. Haven't
been back in a while and I wonder if
many still stand.

we have had a lot of fun visiting vineyards over the years,
in every season.

Asheville. We stayed at the WONDERFUL
Grove Park Inn...what an incredible place!
