Thanksgiving was fun as we had a visit from
2 of our grandkids, Henry (portrait above)
and his sister Grace (portrait in first entry)
and their Mom, our daughter.
Dad is a college basketball coach and was
away on a tournament ... the team did very well!
I got to thinking about the difference between watercolor and oil painting....I enjoy both and have always liked painting dogs, as they each have their own personality, don't they? Here is a couple of examples of "man's best friend" done in watercolor, which has a lighter touch than oil.
I have been painting in watercolor for many years. Recently I was inspired to get into oil for a couple of reasons. My older daughter asked me to paint an oil portrait of her daughter, and around the same time I discovered Duane Keiser's wonderful blog A Painting A Day.
I didn't complete the portrait in a day but I sure did work on it every day! Both ideas were inspiring and fun and I have been painting in oil ever since.
Now, this whole blogging thing is a lot of fun too and I have to credit my younger daughter and her blog GirlOliver for inspiring me to dive in!
