Do most of you have a subject that you "go to" when you
really don't have anything else that is moving you to paint
that day? For me it is horses...they are such beautiful animals
and I have sketched and painted them since I was a child....up
close and in person they frighten me a bit because they are so
big and you have to respect them but I have always admired
them from afar.
I have set a goal, as have all of you, to paint every day. I have found it has really helped me to "loosen up" and that is a good thing, no? I did this in about half an hour, and I am sure some of you are thinking that it looks like it (and not in a good way) ha ha....but art is subjective. I am rather pleased with this one myself...simple design, simple color scheme, just go for it and have fun.

I painted this for my grand daughter, Rose, a while back. She has it on the wall of her bedroom
I have been painting in watercolor for many years. Recently I was inspired to get into oil for a couple of reasons. My older daughter asked me to paint an oil portrait of her daughter, and around the same time I discovered Duane Keiser's wonderful blog A Painting A Day.
I didn't complete the portrait in a day but I sure did work on it every day! Both ideas were inspiring and fun and I have been painting in oil ever since.
Now, this whole blogging thing is a lot of fun too and I have to credit my younger daughter and her blog GirlOliver for inspiring me to dive in!
